Cornerstones Curriculum

We are currently in the process of reviewing our curriculum ready for it to begin in September 2020. Parents are invited to contribute their views on our Geography, History, Art and Design and Design Technology curriculum via an online survey which can be accessed here:

For the rest of this academic year, we continue to follow the Cornerstones Curriculum.

Cornerstones Curriculum

The Cornerstones Curriculum is a creative and thematic approach to learning that is mapped to the new 2014 Primary National Curriculum to ensure comprehensive coverage of national expectations. Our new curriculum will be delivered through Imaginative Learning Projects (ILPs) which will provide a rich menu of exciting and motivating learning activities that make creative links between all aspects of our children’s learning.

We believe children learn better when they are encouraged to use their imagination and apply their learning to engaging contexts. Our new curriculum will provide lots of learning challenges throughout the academic year that will require children to solve problems, apply themselves creatively and express their knowledge and understanding effectively across the curriculum.

Cornerstones also provide a rigorous essential skills framework that outlines the end of year expectations in all subjects.

Knowledge Organisers & Home Ideas

To help your child with their topic work, knowledge organisers will be sent home before the start of each new topic. These will provide your children with lots of useful information about what they will be learning, as well as the key facts they will need to know. The knowledge organisers will form part of their homework.

The home ideas sheets provide weekly homework tasks where the children can choose an activity to do with their topic work in school.
