Autumn Term

Safety Day

Red Watch from Washwood Heath Fire Station came in to talk to us about fire safety, smoke detectors and the importance of planning an escape route for our houses. We also learnt about the importance of road safety and e-safety, for which we designed our own informative posters and class charters.

Villa Vitality

Villa Vitality taught us all about having a healthy lifestyle. We had visitors who came in and taught us about the importance of having a healthy balanced diet as well as carrying out regular exercise. We were set weekly challenges to achieve in order to improve our lifestyle through our food choices and doing regular exercise.  We are looking forward to our visit to Aston Villa Football Club in November, so keep checking for updates!

Eid Party Day

We had a fantastic time during Eid Party Day. In the afternoon we played different games and competitions. Some of us won some great prizes. We also had a super time dancing to our favourite songs.

Eid Al Adha Class Assembly

Our class assembly was based on Eid Al Adha and the pilgrimage to Mecca. We had spent many days rehearsing our assembly and ensuring that all the props were ready. We included lots of different elements to ensure it was amazing such as dancing, actions, as well as role play. We received fantastic reviews for our efforts.

Puzzle Day

During puzzle day, we were given lots of different problem solving challenges. We worked in groups as well as tables depending on the different challenges. Some challenges were quite tricky therefore it was very useful having others in our team to help us.

Villa Vitality Part 2  - 5th November 2013

Our second part of Villa Vitality involved our class going to Aston Villa Football Club to take part in a number of activities that involved keeping fit and eating healthy. First we made radio podcasts, where we role played being presenters of our own radio station. In the afternoon, we had a tour of the fitness centre and were told the importance of regular exercise. We had a great time using the different equipment to help work our muscles. Following that, we met the cook who helped us make a healthy meal that we were able to take back to school with us. Finally we were given a tour of the stadium, where we got to see the fantastic football pitch. It was a fantastic trip!

Skills Show 2013

5A had the opportunity to visit the Skills Show at the NEC. It was a fantastic day out for us, where we learnt about different careers we could go into and the skills needed. We even had the opportunity to take part and try out our skills!

World Museum Liverpool

As part of our topic on the Ancient Egyptians, year 5 visited the World Museum in Liverpool. We had to set off fairly early, as the drive to Liverpool was quite long, however we managed to keep ourselves entertained on the coach! The museum itself was fantastic, we explored the different sections of the museum and learnt fantasic facts about Ancient Egypt by observing the different artefacts. We also had the opportunity to visit other sections of the museum. We had a fantastic time in Liverpool and would recommend this visit to year 4 next year.

Friendship Day

Friendship Day started off with an assembly by Mrs Khan, telling us a story about the importance of friendship and how to be a good friend. In our classes we carried out different activities to do with friendship. In 5A, we wrote acrostic friendship poems followed by friendship bracelets. We all designed a bracelet for one another and handed them to our friends at the end. We also designed class friendship flags where we drew pictures and symbols to explain what friendship means to us.
