Admission Information September 2021

 

From September 2013, Leigh Primary School took responsibility for all in-year applications for a school place. If your child is currently out of school or you want them to transfer from their current school to Leigh Primary School, please come to the office and request an application form from Mrs Hamblin so that your child can be added to our waiting list. Alternatively, you can download an 'Application Form' and 'In-Year Cover Letter' below.

 

Our admissions policy outlines in detail how to apply for a place and this is in line with the Local Authority guidelines. You can view or download it below. 

 

The school can admit 30 children in any class. Places are allocated according to the authority published criteria.

 

The criteria are as follows:

 

1. Looked after children and all previously looked after children, including those children who appear (to the admission authority) to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.

 

2. Children of staff at the school where there is a demonstrable skill shortage

 

3. Children who at the time of the application have a sibling attending the academy.

 

4. Children of staff in the school - Where there is no demonstrable skill shortage

 

5. Distance measurement: a straight line measurement distance from school to home.

 

The arrangements for children who transfer from another school to Leigh Primary are as follows:

 

1. Once the decision to transfer to Leigh Primary has been made, a start date for your child(ren) will be established. Details of the previous school will be taken so that records can be passed on.

 

2. To assist with your son’s/daughter’s transfer, parents and children will have the opportunity to view the school and meet their new teacher. Appointments will be made by the office.

Leigh School work in partnership with parents who find the process of applying for school places difficult. We will be offering 'parent workshops' during Autumn term 2021. A group call text will also be sent to remind parents of these dates.

4 May 2021Test registration opens

You can register your child for the entrance test from this date. You will receive an email acknowledgement immediately after submitting your registration to confirm it has been successful. Following registration, you will be sent a further email within 15 days advising you of the venue of the test. 

 

16 June 2021Reasonable adjustments deadline

This is the deadline for requesting reasonable adjustments are made to the entrance test to allow your child to access the paper, if for example they have a disability. Requests for adjustments must be submitted by this date along with all relevant evidence. Contact the Admissions office to request the relevant form. 

 

30 June 2021 4pmTest registration deadline4pm is the deadline for registering for the entrance test. It is not possible to register for the test after this time. 
beginning of September 2021Test informationIn early September you will be sent information about the test and procedure for the day of the test. This will be posted to your home address. If you have not received this by 7 September, contact the Admissions office. Do not contact the office before 7 September.  
11 September 2021Entrance test

Your child sits the entrance test on this date. It is likely that two sessions will be held (AM and PM). Your child will be allocated a session and you should therefore keep the whole of 11 September free from commitments.

 

15 October 2021Results

 

The entrance test results will be sent prior to you completing your Local Authority preference form - Note this is not the offer of a place. 

 

31 October 2021Preference form deadlineYou must have applied for school places via your local authority by this date. You are advised to wait for the entrance test results before applying for school places.
1 March 2022School offer1 March or next working day is the national date for local authorities to notify parents which school their child has been offered.
