Spring

Our main highlight of Spring 1 was our class assembly based on Chinese New Year. This year is the year of the horse. I hope you all enjoyed our assembly as much as we enjoyed performing it.

Our assembly

In DT we made easter egg packaging all ready for easter. We enjoyed all the practical lessons including finding out about nets and making our packaging. When we had made our packaging we evaluated it to find out what we could do better next time.
We also visted the Life Education Caravan on 14th February. Here we learnt all about our bodies and how to keep healthy. We all did very well and got a sticker and a certificate.

In literacy at the moment we are focusing on the Romans. Our writing focus for the next two weeks is diaries so we will be writing diary enteries based on our lives and from the point of view of Roman soldiers.

On Thursday (6th March 2014) it is world book day so we can all dress up in costumes as our favourite book character and bring our favourite book to school. To get us excited for world book day a famous author came into our assembly on Monday. His name was Ian Billings. He read us funny poems, told us to stretch our imagination and made us (and our teachers) laugh.

We have learnt about out charity for the year: Acorns. To raise money for our charity we decided to make bracelets and sell them around the school and at the spring fayre. Lots of people brought our bracelets and we raised quite a bit of money for Acorns. Below are some pictures of us making the bracelets and of the people who so kindly bought them.

Making bracelets

On Friday 4th April it was our spring fayre. Year 3 had two stalls to run! Most of us were picked up by our families and taken around the fayre some of us went around with our teachers but we still had fun!! We won teddies and easter eggs, bought toys, had mehndi and bought and ate lots of food. It was a lovely afternoon!
